I have thought of many things this evening.How nothing is worth me letting my sons go.To me , I could think of nothing worth that trade. Then I walked into my office and there behind the glass of my bookcase,is a folded burial
flag.The stars and stripes,paid for by so many.I realized that flag out wieghed all things I deemed precious.It was and is more precious and more humbling than I had thought possible as a son.
Now as a father it had more meaning than ever.What do we know? What do we ever really know?I think there are somethings that take time to understand.War perhaps is one act that will never be understood,but I understand Old Glory.
I think many fathers would rather be sons.Yet all know the cost of freedom.It is a cost too great to comprehend,yet far too costly if not paid.As the world seems to stand against our flag let us find shelter under it.
These are the hours in which heros are born.To those that call us arrogant,we must not falter as we stand as patriots.Do not hesitate to be an American.For as Mr.Franklin said...If we do not stand together....we will hang together.This is what we should all know.It is better to sup water in the presence of heros than to take wine with traitors.

God Bless our country and us all during this time.
Watching the deployments of the Army and Marines here from our bases you hope to see their young faces again.

For several years now, I have tried to protect my son. I figured that I have given enough to this Country over the last 20 or so years. But a few months ago my son started asking me what it was like to be a Marine. As I started telling him, I began to remember the "Good ol days". I remember how proud I was, and somewhat even to this day of becoming a Marine.
I have stopped trying to protect him. Now I am trying to help him become a warrior. I think I was wrong trying to protect him. I think this Country needs warriors, now more than ever.
Like everyone else, I have no idea what will happen in the future, but we all have to be strong again. We need to start being Americans again. We need to stop giving in, and compromising ourselves. We need to make a stand and do what is right, even if it hurts.
This Country use to be free. Americans use to be brave. Americans use to do the right thing. It use to be the greatest nation that has ever existed. If we are willing to pay the price it can be again.
