I received an email today from a person involved in National Defence. The first part of the letter was introduction and contact information and he told of the place where the dogs they were using had been acquired. The letter went on to say politics were involved in the place chosen to obtain their dogs. They wanted me to provide both equipment and training in the tactical work on these dog and handlers. The decision was made to purchase those dogs and handlers because of politics. I have never seen a politician in the field nor will I see one when I train the handlers who will be required to do the necessary work. Their decisions in fact are of no value in the mud.
Someone had made the decision that will affect the level of security to which these dogs and handlers are effective. My decision to not sell or offer my equipment or training was based not on politics but on knowledge that you cannot put tactical equipment on sporting dogs. I have made the decision to never do or be involved in that. It would be destined for failure. The fact they were destined for failure by their political decision would not matter. We would be held responsible I am sure. It would give the politician a way out. They need one to back up their decision.
