If when you
are about to find your companion you are confronted with the "pet of
show" quality line turn around and walk away. You are dealing with a
class of person who should not be permitted to keep fish let alone
mammals. Think about what they are implying. Show quality is supposed
to be the ultimate which it is not, it is almost impossible to tell
the looks of a dog at 8 weeks of age. You are paying more for a guess
so you can feed your vanity. Pet quality which means this dog must
have a personality to live with your family, be healthy and stable and
of good temperament is thought of lesser value. Looks or cosmetics
mean more than stability. In either case these breeders are telling
you they breed inconsistent litters and openly sell lesser dogs at a
lesser price. Next you will probably hear breeding or non-breeding
contract. Money again usually dictates this. Pay more to the breeder
and you get the papers. It is like buying a car and getting a motor
for more money. The Kennel clubs condone this action which say's
something in itself. If it is a good representation of its breed, it
should be bred. If not, it should be culled. To get a good idea of
breed worthy go to a dog show. You will see champion and grand
champions who are capable of nothing but running around the ring and
standing for the judge. They do not even have enough dignity to not
relieve themselves indoors. I suggest these people are not breed
worthy. Why buy a pointer that cannot point or hunt? Why then can they
be champion of a breed? Good
questions make conscientious buyers.
